Volume 1: Chapter 3

 Chapter III

Wei Qian was afraid that “Ghost Dog” would suffer in his life, so he considerately hit him with a brick several more times until the dog’s head was smashed to pieces. Then he threw the brick down with a heavy breath and smeared the dog’s blood on the wall.

He had a chance to look up at the little boy who had caused him trouble, but the ungrateful wolf had taken the can of canned food while he was beating the dog, hugged it in his arms, and devoured it.

Perhaps Wei Qian’s eyes were too murderous, the little boy shuddered, looked at Wei Qian with a pair of big black eyes, and a row of canned soup accidentally flowed down the corner of his mouth. He immediately reached out to catch it in fear and licked his hand clean.

Wei Qian’s nameless anger in his heart became even stronger, and he wanted to step on the little boy’s head and let him lick his shoes to his heart’s content. Seeing his scary look, the little guy thought he was going to steal his cans, so he immediately became alert, hugged the cans tightly, stood up and leaned against the wall, posing as if he was brave enough to defend his territory to the death.

Wei Qian was immediately discouraged, thinking why should he bother with such a small thing? So he spat on the ground in boredom and turned away.

During the days waiting for the results, Wei Qian did not waste his precious vacation. During the day, he went to the stall with Ma Zi San Pang to sell pornographic videotapes, and at night he found a job in a billiard hall, earning ten yuan a day for watching the venue.

He found that the kid he met that day seemed to have made his home in the garbage-filled alley. Every time Wei Qian went out, he could see him looking for his dinner in the garbage.

When Wei Qian passed by, if he was in a good mood, he would occasionally throw a steamed bun to the kid.

Wei Qian had always hated his biological parents. Children first learned how to get in touch with other people in the world from getting along with their parents, so it was difficult for him not to hate society. His love was more limited than the spring rain in the north.

The reason why he occasionally looked at the little guy differently was that he had observed the child. He found that the little boy had all his arms and legs, no physical disabilities, and not only was his intelligence not a problem, but it might even be higher than that of ordinary children. His appearance could not tell, but his eyes were black and bright, so he should not be too bad.

If his parents were really dead and no one was taking care of him, he should be sent to a social welfare institution. At this age and with such conditions, he would definitely be adopted by people.

The little boy was wandering outside. Wei Qian guessed that he either had a guardian, but the guardian abused him and he ran away, or he was abducted when he was young and finally escaped. Either way, it was all running away. It was because others treated him badly and he couldn’t live anymore, so he ran away.

Wei Qian understood that feeling and even felt sympathy for him. Of course, even if he felt sympathy for him, Wei Qian would only feel pity for the little guy when he was in a good mood occasionally. Most of the time, he kept his cold and sharp heart very well. And even his sporadic kindness brought him trouble.

That day, Wei Qian’s high school entrance examination results came out. He did well, 20 points higher than the admission score of the best high school in the city, and he could be ranked in the top ten in the district.

If it were someone else, his parents would probably treat him to a meal, but Wei Qian didn’t have anyone to treat, so he didn’t buy steamed buns for dinner, but bought a bag of meat buns, which was also a celebration.

Wei Qian thought he should be happy, but he wasn’t. He felt like there were two big rocks in his heart. One rock was the high cost of high school, and the other was the pain that no one could tell him about no matter how good or outstanding he was.

He tried hard to ignore those things, so he was in a very strange state – his head was hot, but his heart was cold. When he passed by, he threw a meat bun to the little boy next to the garbage dump, and amused himself by thinking: This is a meat bun hitting a dog, it will never come back.

Who knew that the little thing didn’t let his bun go and never came back. He stuffed the bun into his stomach in a few bites, and then chased after him with the bun and the man. Just like a little stray cat, he would identify whoever feeds him a sausage.

Wei Qian looked back and was surprised, thinking that something was wrong, and this was a buy one get one free! He was already upset, and he was impatient with being followed, so he turned back several times and cursed viciously, and pushed the little boy, pushing him to squat on his buttocks, and even pretended to hit him, but the other party still followed him relentlessly and followed them all the way to their home.

Wei Qian’s house originally belonged to his grandfather, the father of his dead mother. His grandfather was angered to death by his mother, so the house belonged to Wei Qian’s mother. Now that she is dead, the house has been passed to him for quite a while.

The old tube building is a typical urban shantytown. There is a garbage dump downstairs. It is messy. The quality and economic ability of the neighbours are generally below the average level. Many people living here are not very friendly.

Righteous and selfish, warm-hearted and unfriendly, they coexist with the poverty and backwardness of this residential area without contradiction, and live in strange harmony.

For example, the single old woman who lives opposite is relatively unfriendly. Every time she sees Wei Qian, she will start to roll her eyes from a distance, and then slam the door as if she saw something unclean. Sometimes she will deliberately throw garbage at his door.

At first, Wei Qian was too lazy to argue with her. He was a big child with a small child, and he was worried every day. He was too lazy to pay attention to these trivial matters.

Besides, why should the poor make things difficult for the poor?

Later, Wei Qian understood that the poor can only make things difficult for the poor, and will only make things difficult for the poor.

Otherwise, what else can they do? His mother is a bitch, and he is a son of a bitch. In theory, the old lady’s scolding is actually correct.

But today is different. He has done nothing wrong. Even if he is viewed from a traditional perspective, he is better than anyone else. Why is he the only one who has such a hard life?

His outstanding high school entrance examination results pulled his upper body into another world, while his lower body was still sinking in the boundless swamp, which not only allowed him to see the boundless world, but also made him unable to break free from his inherent identity and class.

Even if he was a pure social scum and hooligan like San Pang and Ma Zi, he would not be so miserable.

Wei Qian’s overheated brain and overcooled heart finally pushed him to a critical point. He lowered his eyes and stared at the stinking garbage in front of his house. Veins popped out of his arms. His eyebrows and eyes looked very much like his mother’s, but they were far less beautiful than hers.

The hatred and gloom that had been shrouding him all year round almost became his natural temperament. He was handsome and gloomy. The young boy Wei Qian squatted down silently and picked up the fruit peels and rotten leaves in front of his house bit by bit and threw them away. The little boy who came back didn’t know what was going on and watched from the side.

Wei Qian walked two steps silently with the garbage in his hand, and suddenly he didn’t want to do it anymore.

He suddenly threw the garbage in his hand at the door opposite, turned around and roared at the boy: “What the hell are you looking at?!”

The little boy was startled and instinctively took a step back.

Wei Qian said viciously: “Little bastard!”

The little bastard leaned against the corner of the wall and looked at him cautiously with his big eyes.

Wei Qian took a deep breath. He tried hard to suppress the evil fire in his heart. As an “adult”, he didn’t want to lose his composure in front of the little boy.

However, at this moment, he found that he couldn’t control himself, and even his eyelids kept twitching

....After all, he was not a real adult.

Wei Qian suddenly turned around without warning, picked up a big stone from the ground, and smashed it on the window of the old woman opposite with a “bang”. The broken glass fell to the ground with a “clatter”.

A scream came from the house.

Wei Qian: “Listen to me, old woman, I didn’t bother with you before because you were in your seventies and eighties and didn’t have many years to live. If you come to offend me again in the future, I will fucking wipe out your whole family!”

The old woman’s fierce shouting and cursing came from the house. The other party obviously didn’t take him, a half-grown boy, seriously.

Without saying anything, Wei Qian turned around and took out a kitchen knife from home, kicked her door, and broke the door lock, leaving only a metal chain shaky. The boy took the kitchen knife and chopped hard on the door. His face was pale and his eyes were red, like a psychopathic murderer. He scared the old woman who was cursing and crying.

Since then, the old woman began to avoid Wei Qian and spread rumours that he was a murderer.

However, the old woman never dared to curse in front of Wei Qian again, and never threw garbage at their door again. It seems that it is human nature to bully the weak and fear the strong.

But at that time, the evil ghost-like appearance of Young Master Wei scared the old woman to tears, but failed to scare the little boy. The little boy still insisted on staying at his door.

Wei Qian finished his threat and slammed his door in front of the little boy, locking him out.

The little boy wandered around alone outside for a while.

Finally, he bent down, picked up the scattered garbage left at Wei Qian’s door, packed it up and threw it away. He even picked up a few small branches, tied them together, and swept the floor.

Then he curled up at the door like an unwanted puppy and slept curled up all night.
